Chanel - Spring Summer 2014

The Chanel spring summer 2014 show at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year has been one of my favorites. Designer and Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld used an antique German painting chart as his original inspiration transformed the show space in to an art exhibition, he created paintings especially for the show and also had some installations including a giant 2.55 bag, a golden shower and a No5 robot. The Chanel shows are always a visual experience but I feel this one in particular has given a new life to Chanel giving such a youthful new take. The textiles as always are beautiful but this time a lot more colorful than the usual monochromatic colour pallet, techniques such as spray paint on the bags take away Chanel's usual classic and polished feel although not straying too far from the brands signature styles using wool, tweed and boucle.
